Job Description:
The Shield AI Trade Compliance team plays a critical role in supporting our global operations and ensuring adherence to U.S. export and import regulations. As a part of this team, you’ll collaborate closely with Sales, Program Management, and Engineering to guide the compliant movement of U.S. State Department (ITAR) and U.S. Commerce Department (EAR)–controlled goods and technologies.
We’re looking for a proactive professional with experience in ITAR and EAR regulations, with strong project management skills and the ability to balance compliance with business growth. This individual will operate independently, communicate across functions, and help drive Shield AI’s mission while maintaining full alignment with U.S. trade laws and company policies.
What you'll do:
Review, prepare, submit, and manage various Export/Import Authorizations (Licenses: DSP-5, DSP-85, DSP-73, DSP-61, DOC licenses; Agreements: MLAs and TAAs; Exemptions/Exceptions) to authorize the transfer of regulated hardware, technical data, software, and services.
Implement and manage divisional trade compliance procedures, including visitor vetting, foreign travel, and restricted party screening, in accordance with ITAR and EAR regulations.
Provide clear, actionable guidance on compliance matters across Shield AI’s business units.
Maintain detailed and accurate records for all U.S. State and Commerce Department license activity.
Review and ensure all export authorizations meet Shield AI and U.S. Government requirements.
Apply and uphold corporate trade compliance policies consistently across teams.
Evaluate the use and applicability of Exemptions and Exceptions within the business.
Monitor changes to U.S. Government export authorization policies and ensure Shield AI’s continued compliance and awareness.
Required qualifications:
Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years’ prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 2 years of experience.
Experience with U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and/or International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) licensing and compliance frameworks.
Preferred qualifications:
Working experience managing export authorizations and regulatory interactions.
Experience with trade compliance systems and tools, including: DECCS / SNAP-R licensing platforms.
Strong working knowledge of export licensing workflows, classification, and jurisdiction determinations.
Working experience influencing and partnering with stakeholders across engineering, operations, and program management teams.
